Title: Audio Interview: “ From Mumbai to Indiana: A Graduate’s Path to a Tech Career”
Background: This audio interview was conducted during one of my master’s degree program courses, COM 561 – Professional Multimedia Content Creation. The assignment required showcasing my skills in audio storytelling and proficiency in Adobe Audition editing. The overall project took three weeks, from planning to delivering the final improved version.
Scope: Leveraging my background as a journalist and my experience in radio and TV, I seamlessly applied my skills in Multimedia Production to this assignment. Given my experience both in radio and TV, I was familiar with the Adobe Audition tool, and have had solid expertise in conducting audio stories for a large audience. Following the professor’s guidance, I interviewed the protagonist, ensured voice-over for a more engaging story, edited the audio piece in Adobe Audition, added background music, incorporated peers’ feedback, and made final adjustments.
Process: The creative process involved a few critical steps:
- Idea brainstorming, research, and initial contact with the source;
- Writing the questions and recording the interview via Zoom.
- Scriptwriting and voice-over recording;
- Selecting the audio pieces for the audio story, as well as background music, for more impact.
- Resembling all the pieces together, using Adobe Audition;
- Publishing the interview on my blog, receiving feedback from peers, and improving the final version.
Lessons Learned: One of the lessons learned was that any creative work requires more than one mind. My peers and professors’ feedback helped me to acknowledge the missing elements and make adjustments. As a result, my work received full points, which I consider a key metric for this project. This project is a prime example of how I combine storytelling with technical skills to produce high-quality content, a crucial aspect of roles like Content Writer or Social Media Manager.
